BLACKFOOT – Bingham Healthcare is proud to announce its 75th anniversary, marking 75 years of compassionate, innovative healthcare service to the people of Blackfoot and surrounding rural communities. What began in 1950 as a modest 60-bed rural hospital has grown into Eastern Idaho’s leading healthcare network.
A commemorative celebration will be held on Tuesday, June 10, at 10 a.m. on the front steps of Bingham Memorial Hospital at 98 Poplar Street in Blackfoot. The community is invited to attend.
Adding to the day’s significance, the American Hospital Association will make a special visit to Blackfoot to recognize Bingham Healthcare’s 75 years of excellence, honoring its long-standing commitment to advancing healthcare in rural Idaho.
From its roots in a potato field, Bingham Healthcare was inspired by the Mayo Clinic’s “Miracle in the Cornfield.” That same pioneering spirit now drives more than 1,100 employees and 160+ specialists across facilities in Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Ammon, Pocatello, and Shelley.
“For 75 years, we’ve stood shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors — delivering not just care, but hope,” said Jake Erickson, CEO of Bingham Healthcare. “This celebration isn’t just about looking back on our accomplishments. It’s about recognizing the people who’ve made this journey possible — our patients, providers, and community — and looking forward to how we’ll continue raising the standard of rural healthcare for decades to come.”

The event will include remarks from executive leadership, a historical look back at the organization’s journey, and highlights of its nationally accredited services and surgical innovations — such as robotic — assisted procedures typically found only in major academic hospitals.
As one of the region’s top employers and healthcare innovators, Bingham Healthcare continues to invest in technology, facilities, and people to bring big-city care to rural Idaho.
