A bill that would provide healthcare options to Ohio Farm Bureau families has passed the state legislature and is headed to the governor’s desk for signature.

Whittney Bowers with Ohio Farm Bureau says the legislation expands the organization’s current healthcare coverage options, which allowed Farm Bureau members to provide healthcare to their employees.

“We will now have Farm Bureau health plans, which will allow people who are not a small business owner to have an option for healthcare for themselves and their family,” she says.

She tells Brownfield each plan is based on the needs of each farm family.

“If you are given the green light for a farm bureau health plan and you choose to pursue one, those are evergreen contracts and an evergreen plan, so once you’re in, you’re in.”

The Ohio State Senate passed the legislation in April, and the state house passed the bill this week.
