ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A Royal Oak woman is accused of her mother’s death after a mental health crisis call.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (June 4) at 7:40 p.m. in the 3600 block of Crooks Road.
The mother, who was a 66-year-old resident of Fenton, said her 45-year-old daughter was experiencing a mental health crisis and needed to be taken to the hospital.
Officers said when they arrived, they detected signs of a struggle while speaking with the daughter, later identified as Royal Oak resident Jennifer Suzanne Cataldo.
Officials said they entered the apartment and found her mother unresponsive on the floor.
The mother, identified as Leslie Ann Cataldo, had suffered a life-threatening neck wound and was transported to Corwell Hospital in Royal Oak, where she underwent emergency surgery.
Lisa Ann was pronounced dead after succumbing to her injuries. Jennifer was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
On Friday, June 6, 2025, Jennifer was arraigned in the 44th District Court.
She was charged with one count of homicide-first-degree murder, which carries a penalty of life in prison.
Jennifer’s criminal history includes a 2018 drunk driving conviction.
Her bond was denied, and her next court appearance is tentatively set for June 13, 2025, in the 44th District Court.
